Goodie Bags is a playful exploration of materials that are commonly used on the body as a means of self-care, self-styling, or self-fashioning. I am interested in using the ephemeral and amorphous elements of these materials to signal body fluids such as saliva, vaginal discharge, and bile, while drawing upon performative modes of presentation to evoke ideas of gender expectations and cultural norms. I am curious about the ways these materials can potentially interact, shift, and ultimately transform over time despite their contained environment. Will this concoction remain in an unfixed state with ever changing colors and consistencies? Or as time passes, will it gradually liquify or perhaps take on another form altogether?
